- FR150 cons, compared to FR160: smaller speaker (less bass, not so comfortable sound), less efficient light (the LEDs look the same, but because of the light beam plain disposition, it reaches shorter distance. As the NOAA reception is fixed (7 switches), so there is no way to adjust it yourself.
for the same price and about the same weight and size. I bought both FR150 (Amazon) and FR160 (local store).
. The second FR150 had its WB NOAA channel #1 (the Austin channel) not very well syntonized.
The first FR150 arrived with problems: the AM reception was not working. I returned and Amazon sent a new one immediately, no charges.
Anyways, placing both FR150 and FR160 side by side: - FR150 pros, compared to FR160: battery charges in a PC USB port, smaller, lighter weight, better design. The light beam disposition of the FR160 is ring type), smaller clank (more torque), worse AM/FM/WB reception (noisy, and in the 2 FR150 samples, I didn't see the 3 bands working fine all together in the same device).
a life saver. I would say cute also.
Love the sun battery. Great little radio.
Small but very handy. Used it just this AM.
Works great. Will fit in glove box of auto or any small space.
Ill take any where I travel.
Only good with hand crank and you have to purchase a separate charging cable and 10 minutes of cranking gets you 1-2 minute phone call. It is nice that I can fully charge it via a USB port on a computer too.
I purchased it to replace an older larger one. This one is nice and compact, great for the deck, pool or beach.
This is an excellent radio. I wish I had bought two.
I had my old one for 5 years and never used any batteries. This is much better built than my last and should last even longer.
The cell phone charging is not a useful feature. While radio and weather bands are what I bought it for, the LED lights are very useful.
I do not care to provide reviews. For this product,it seems to be good. It works and was delivered on time- very satisfactory. Don't ask me for any more reviews.
The sound from the radio was completely drowned out by the water. Of course, the self-power feature and the mostly positive reviews sold me on this. My purpose for buying this radio was to use it in the bathrooom while I shower. I am highly considering returning this item if I still could and get a proper shower radio instead. When I received my order, however, I was very surprised by how small it actually was; I knew it was small, but this was almost a pocket radio to me, and in fact, it fit in the pocket of my jacket. Still, the volume was strong for such a small size, so I stuck with it, until I left it by the sink counter as I stepped in the shower. Aside from the self and solar power capabilities, I also loved the flashlight (it's very bright)., which came in handy during the most recent earthquake here in the Los Angeles area. Very good quality radio, as long as it's not used in the bathroom while taking a shower.
